Zosia Mamet decided to talk about her struggle with eating disorders. It seems that the famous actress has struggled with such an issue that became being so severe that it actually could have killed her.
The experience that Zosia shared now is quite impressive. “I was told I was fat for the first time when I was eight,” the Girls star said. “I’m not fat; I’ve never been fat. But ever since then, there has been a monster in my brain that tells me I am — that convinces me my clothes don’t fit or that I’ve eaten too much. At times it has forced me to starve myself, to run extra miles, to abuse my body,” the star went on to say.
Zosia Mamet also revealed that when she was a teenager she actually found herself in the situation of waking up at night to stare into the refrigerator and make up her mind if she should eat something or go to sleep despite the increased hunger. “I would stand there for hours, opening and closing the door, taking out a piece of food then putting it back in,” Zosia claimed.
Eventually, Zosia decided that she needed to seek help. Her family insisted that this was mandatory and she soon started a treatment. Her dad was the one who made her undergo this treatment. “He came home one night from a party, took me by the shoulders, and said, ‘You’re not allowed to die.’ It was the first time I realized this wasn’t all about me. I didn’t care if I died, but my family did,” the actress revealed.
Today, Zosia Mamet is living a healthy lifestyle and is feeling great. The actress says that she realized that what she was doing was wrong and luckily she had the support she needed to seek the right treatment. The actress did not reveal what type of eating disorder she suffered from during this latest interview. She made these revelations about her eating disorder during an interview with Glamor. The star suffered from this health problem during her teen years.
