Woody Allen finally decided to open up about his quite debated marriage to Soon-Yi Previn. The popular actor and director actually wedded the women adopted by his ex-girlfriend Mia Farrow. Soon-Yi also is 35 years younger than Allen, so there is no wonder that a series of things have constantly been said about this marriage.
Now, Allen claimed that their romance actually started just as a silly filing. “It wouldn’t be serious, but it had a life of its own. And I never thought it would be anything more,” the actor said. The pair wedded back in 1997. They first started their romance back in 1991. Allen said that at first he actually thought that this relationship was ridiculous. However, it started to grow and become a beautiful love.
“I’ve been married now for 20 years and it’s been good,” the director claimed. “Somehow, through no fault of mine or hers, the dynamic worked,” he went on to add. Allen claimed that although the age difference between him and his wife might seem as a gap for their romance, in fact, it was the secret to their success.
“I was paternal. She responded to someone paternal. I liked her youth and energy,” the star claimed. “She deferred to me, and I was happy to give her an enormous amount of decision making just as a gift and let her take charge of so many things,” he went on to add. “She flourished. It was just a good luck thing.” So, it sees that the two are really happy together and they turned out being the perfect match.
Throughout the years, a series of controversial cases have been linked to Woody Allen’s name. One of those cases was an allegation that he sexually abused Dylan Farrow, the girl Allen he adopted with Mia. Allen claimed that these accusations have not affected his popularity. He actually said that his career was not impacted at all, claiming that people come to see the shows which they love and do not attend those which they do not find attractive.
Allen concluded that all relationships need a lot of work and his make no exception from this point of view.
