We’ve been rooting and wishing our favorites are good enough to win the first X Factor US season. We shared their ups and downs and gasped each time the jury had to take their pick. In the end, only one could win the crown. So, who’s the X Factor winner?
To cut the chase and end the anxiety, Melanie Amaro won the X Factor USA season 1. An obvious frontrunner from her first audition, Melanie had evolved so much by the end of the show, she’s almost a pro singer.
So, what exactly din Melanie win? Well, to begin with she got herself a $5 million recording contract and the title of America’s first X Factor winner. On top of that she will also get a starring role in a Pepsi Super Bowl commercial.
The 19 year old Melanie is originally from the British Virgin Islands, but she lives in Florida now. After Steve Jones, host of the show, announced she was the winner, Melanie could only repeat “Oh my God. Oh my God. Oh my God”. In the end she gathered her thoughts to say: “Thank you so much! I don’t know what to say. Thank you. God is good! I’m so happy… This is something I have wanted all my life!”.
Her mentor, Simon Cowell added: “America, thank you for giving this girl an opportunity. She’s going to represent this country. She is a star. I’m very proud and very grateful”.
For Simon Cowell, yesterday’s X Factor finale was a happy day. After some five years, he could finally show off and gloat as his protégé won the show. The last time, Simon Cowell, mentored a winner of the X Factor, was back in 2006 at the British version of the show. Back then, 26 year old Leona Lewis won the show with bright colors. Lewis was invited to perform at last night’s finale.
All in all, the first season of the X Factor USA had raving success. Paula Abdul, described the first series of the show as “one of the most exciting job experiences” she ever had. L.A. Reid referred to the show as “an emotional journey”.
