On Monday, Lady Gaga hosted the ceremony of her new workshop at Barney’s, in New York. And to do it Gaga-style, she got a pair of enormous scissors in neon colors for the ribbon cutting ceremony, omg! reports.
It’s almost time for the Christmas shopping spree and the shops all over the world are decorating their windows, bringing in new holiday merchandise and try to get into the spirit of Christmas. Barney’s did it, too, with some help from Lady Gaga. The pop queen had this amazing idea of creating a gift workshop, which looks pretty similar to what any kid would imagine Santa’s workshop would be like. Of course, Gaga’s style could be recognized from one corner of the shop to another.
“Gaga’s Workshop” occupies an entire floor at New York City’s Barney’s. The 5,500 square feet are filled with holiday displays and with a great variety of merchandise. There, you can find, for example, tea cups encrusted with Swarovski elements, of funny stiletto holiday stockings.
At the opening, Lady Gaga described the shop as “whimsical and fun” but keeping a sense of “art and fashion”. “It’s a ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ moment”, the singer said while cutting the ribbon.
In order to promote the workshop, Gaga’s team has created a huge parade balloon that could be seen at Columbus Circle. The baloon was a mix between a spider and Gaga’s cartoon face.
The event gathered some celebrities, too, as expected. Among them, there was Leonardo Di Caprio’s summer flame, actress Blake Lively, “The Good Wife” actor Alan Cumming and “How I Met Your Mother” star Neil Patrick, with his fiancé, David Burtka.
