Comedian Tracy Morgan decided to settle a lawsuit with Wal-Mart, over an accident that involved one of the company’s trucks. The accident dates back to almost a year ago, when the Wal-Mart tractor-trailer crashed into a limousine that was transporting Tracy Morgan, along with some comedian friends. Morgan was injured in the accident, while fellow comedian Jimmy Mack died due to the crash.
While Jimmy Mack’s family earlier settled the case with Wal-Mart, it seems that Tracy Morgan decided to do the same now. The comedian claimed that he took this decision because Wal-Mart did the right thing on this case. He dropped the lawsuit filed against the company.
“Walmart did right by me and my family, and for my associates and their families. I am grateful that the case was resolved amicably,” the star said. However, the terms of the settlement were not revealed at this point. Still, what was revealed is the fact that Wal-Mart admitted guilt.
Initially, the famous retailer claimed that Morgan and the car passengers were the ones to blame for the severe injuries, as they were not wearing their seat belts. However, it seems that it changed its story and now Walmart took the blame. The famous company was accused of not having sufficient oversight on its driver, who fell asleep at the wheel, after being awake for more than 24 hours.
“Walmart and I worked diligently to reach this settlement for the plaintiffs and their families,” Tracy Morgan’s lawyer claimed. “Walmart took full responsibility for the accident, which we greatly appreciate.”
Well, although the star agreed to the settlement, it seems that Tracy Morgan is not completely well, at least not yet. The famous comedian suffered a traumatic brain injury in the crash and is currently still undergoing treatment in the attempt to achieve a full recovery. He has been making slow progress and it seems that the star is a little better now.
He was actually seen shopping with his fiance and the couple’s daughter, so Morgan is getting used to normal living. The star has never talked during an interview about this whole case, but it seems that this might be happening soon. Allegedly, Morgan will open up in the first interview since his accident, on Today.
