Although Tori Spelling has previously claimed that things are well financially for her and her husband Dean McDermott, it seems that her statement might not be 100 percent accurate. According to a new report, the popular actress and her husband owe no less than $259,000 in unpaid taxes.
The news was reported by People magazine, which obtained some court documents filed by the state of California. The documents reveal that the Tori and Dean owe quite an impressive sum of money for unpaid taxes from 2014. This is not the first issue that the pair has been dealing with when it comes to financial problems.
Actually, before being slapped with this tax lien by the state of California, Tori was sued by American Express. The lawsuit was filed in January and indicated that the star might have some financial troubles. According to the lawsuit, Tori failed to pay her outstanding balance of $37,981.97 since 2015.
Despite the rumors that emerged on her financial struggle, the star claimed that she and her family were really fine. Also, she said that the rumors emerged because of what is written in her book, Spelling It Like It Is, which Tori released in 2013.
“I thought I was being relatable, talking about how celebrities go through financial struggles, too, we make mistakes, too,” she previously stated. “We’re not perfect, we have made a lot of choices financially with real estate that didn’t work out … and that just escalated into this story about financial struggles, bankruptcy. To this day that haunts me!”
Tori also clarified during her previous interview that “we’re not bankrupt.” However, the latest report seems to reveal something else. Tori has not commented on the new claims, so it is yet to see what the star has to say. Furthermore, it is yet to find out how Tori will pay her fiscal debt.
Previously, Tori revealed that she is trying to teach her children how to value money because she and her husband are working really hard. “It’s so important for my children to see that both their parents are working, and we talk to them about it,” she said.
