The annual list of Forbes’ highest paid actors was published on Tuesday afternoon. At the top of the list is Tom Cruise who made a fortune thanks to the success of his latest movie “Mission: Impossible”, says Reuters.
Personally, I wish Forbes’ list would vanish because I don’t see the point in finding out who is the richest celebrity in Hollywood. For me, that is torture. Since the world does not revolve around me and my own wishes, this year’s list of highest paid actors was published on Tuesday revealing that Tom Cruise holds the biggest bank account.
The announcement was made when Tom Cruise was celebrating his 50th anniversary, so we presume he was very happy. Well, as happy as a soon-to-be divorced person can be. The publication further revealed that Cruise raised approximately $75 million between May 2011 and May 2012. The largest sums of money came from his blockbuster “Mission: Impossible”.
Although he was named the best paid actor of the year, Cruise’s situation might take a downturn. Analysts think the upcoming divorce could cause some damages to his revenue. Tom should be careful with his money as he may not be co-opted in movies until his reputation will be restored. His wife, Katie Holmes told the press that she was excessively controlled by her husband and by other members of Scientology.
This is not the first time Tom Cruise deals with issues about his reputation. Several years ago, he went through a wave of negative publicity because he lost his temper during an interview with Oprah. The actor jumped off the couch displaying violent behavior because he was upset by the references that the talk show host has made in relation to Scientology. The actor also registered a series of YouTube videos in order to defend his religion. Cruise regained his popularity through the movies he produced in 2011, but it seems a new storm lies ahead of him.
The second richest actor in Hollywood is Leonardo DiCaprio who grossed $37 million. Adam Sandler’s 2011 revenue was equal to the one of DiCaprio, whereas Ben Stiller registered only $33 million, thus occupying the fifth position.
