The New ZTE Star 2 Unveiled

ZTE unveiled its new flagship phone, at Guangzhou’s Canton Towers, the tallest building in China. This phone was presented as featuring an impressive level of voice control. With this feature, you can make phone calls, control the camera, browse through apps and even search for locations while driving.

All these commands can be done without pressing a single button on your phone. The Chinese company has declared that they have worked very hard on the ZTE Star 2 software, with the purpose to deliver the best integrated voice assistant.

ZTE Star 2 features a 2.3GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor, with 2GB of RAM, a 2,300mAh battery, 16GB of onboard storage and a microSD support. It also has a 13-megapixel camera and Sony’s fourth-generation sensor, dual-LED flash and the front shooter camera comes with 5-megapixels.

Not only that it has impressive features, but Star 2 also feels premium in your hands, due to its aluminum chamfered edges and glass rear. It has a 5-inch full-HD display, 1,920×1,080 pixels with pretty vibrant colors. Its thin bezels situated around the display, make it look larger than it is.

So, the voice control is main attraction on ZTE Star 2. The Chinese company says that when it comes to voice control, this phone is way ahead of the competition. Truly, it is hard to not be impressed, even if demos were in Mandarin. After you change the language in English, many of the features still work.

The camera controls are amazing and you can take pictures by saying “cheese” or “capture”. You can turn on and off the flash and even switch to the front camera without using your hands. If you want to close the camera app, you will say “Exit camera.”

ZTE Star 2 comes with running Android 4.4 KitKat, which isn’t the latest version. The English voice features aren’t yet ready for the UK, Australia and US, but they will be finished in short time.

ZTE Company is for now focused on the Mandarin market. ZTE must compete on the China market with other two major brands, Huawei and newcomer Xiaomi. Due to their new strategy, it seems that they managed to stand out and gain attention with the voice control assistance.
