Huawei has brought some incredible surprises this year, releasing a new device that will definitely have a huge impact on the market. Without a doubt, the main product that already has a huge success is the Nexus 6P, which is manufactured by Huawei. However, there is also the Huawei Watch, an incredible smartwatch.
Well, it looks like the huge manufacturer doesn’t intend to stop here this year and it has released a new device, called Huawei Mate S. Facing giants like Samsung and Apple on the smartphone market, Huawei seems to be able to handle pretty good the competition.
Like many other Chinese manufacturers, Huawei’s winning tactic is to release high-end phones, with good configurations at a lower and more affordable price. However, even if it’s not more expensive than the Galaxy S6 or iPhones 6S, this device is not cheap. The new Huawei Mate S is available at the price of 642 dollars SIM-free.
This new phone comes with some good configurations, but at this price range, it has some serious competitors, like LG G4 or HTC One M9. Comparing it with these high-end phones, probably Huawei Mate S will not justify its price. Most likely, the main problem for Huawei is that it lacks the brand appeal to tempt customers to choose its products.
Moreover, the brand appeal problem is not the only problem that this company is having right now. Another issue is that clients are having a hard time to find Huawei’s products. Of course, they could find them on Amazon, among other similar products, but Huawei doesn’t have any dedicated shops in Europe or US. Returning to the Huawei Mate S, this phone comes with an all-metal body design, measures 150×75.3×7.2mm and weighs approximately 5.5 ounces.
Probably, the main attraction on this device is the fingerprint scanner, which is located on the rear of the phone. This is the exact location as it was on the Mate 7, being a perfect and very comfortable position. This feature can be used to unlock or wake up the phone instantly. Moreover, the fingerprint scanner can be used for other functions, like to take a phone, selfies for example, swipe it to browse through photos, touch and hold it to answer a call or to stop an alarm.
