The Jon Hamm - Kim Kardashian Idiot Controversy
In a recent magazine interview, Jon Hamm lost it as he was talking about what it takes to be a success in today’s entertainment industry. Among other things, he called the like of Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton idiots and pointed out that’s the key of success, million dollar pay checks and fame. Obviously, his comments couldn’t have escaped Kim’s radar so that’s why we are here today to discuss the Jon Hamm – Kim Kardashian idiot controversy.
The truth is that Jon Hamm did indeed strike a touchy cord. If reality shows aren’t exactly at the top of your favorite TV programs, then you can surely relate to Hamm’s reaction. And don’t put your money on Hamm’s innocence when he talked about the perks of being stupid on TV. Starting feisty debates over the media with some of the most popular and bad mouths of the industry is a very good way of getting free publicity.
The Mad Men actor had an interview with April’s edition of the Elle UK magazine. Jon Hamm started talking about what it takes these days to reach the high peaks of success. His answer, illustrated by examples, was simple: “Being a f***ing idiot is a valuable commodity in this culture because you’re rewarded significantly”. And he even named two of the most popular names that get their success thanks to their celebrated stupidity: Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian.
Obviously, Jon Hamm’s comments immediately reached Kim Kardashian’s ears and she didn’t waste her chance to make a standing in defending her success. The reality show star didn’t use a fancy popular magazine to give her reply. She went to the ‘old-fashion’ Twitter that all media people love so much. It’s today’s best way to get your news from the horse’s mouth.
But getting back to the Jon Hamm and Kim Kardashian idiot controversy, the diva wrote on her Twitter page this Monday: “Calling someone who runs their own businesses, is a part of a successful TV show, produces, writes, designs, and creates ‘stupid’, is in my opinion careless”. Kim also mentioned she respects Jon and his opinion, but everybody is working just as hard so respect should be mutual.
