Susan Sarandon seems to believe the stories claiming that Woody Allen has abused a child. The famous actress actually criticised the movie director, saying that she had nothing good to say about him. Susan made the comments during an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival.
Woody Allen has been dealing with some accusations saying that he sexually abused his stepdaughter, Dylan, when she was only seven years old. “I think he sexually assaulted a child and I don’t think that’s right,” the actress stated. “I have nothing good to say about him. I don’t want to go there,” Susan added. Maybe, Susan is one of the stars who does not want to be associated to the movie director.
Actually, Woody Allen’s son with Mia Farrow, Ronan, asked stars to stop working with his father. Ronan Farrow wrote a column in The Hollywood Reporter, talking about the abuse allegations against Allen. Ronan actually went to criticise all the stars who keep on working with Woody Allen saying that the situation could be comparable to the scandal involving Bill Cosby.
“I believe my sister. This was always true as a brother who trusted her, and, even at 5 years old, was troubled by our father’s strange behavior around her: climbing into her bed in the middle of the night, forcing her to suck his thumb — behavior that had prompted him to enter into therapy focused on his inappropriate conduct with children prior to the allegations,” Ronnan claimed.
Woody Allen has not revealed too much with regard to this story, but he did admit he knew about the column, although he has not read it yet. Allen also said that he just wanted to remain focused on his work. “I never read anything. I never read what you say about me or the reviews of my film. I made the decision I think five years ago never to read a review of my movie,” the movie director said in an interview with Variety. “Never read an interview. Never read anything, because you can easily become obsessed with yourself.”
Of course, the allegations remain unproven, but unfortunately for Woody Allen, he was not able to escape the claims during the Cannes festival. In fact, the allegations are not new at all. They were first made in 1993, when an investigation started against Allen, but no charges were filed against the star.
