The trial set for the divorce of Stephen Collins and his wife Faye Grant has been postponed until the month of January. The divorce trial was set to start on Wednesday, but it had been delayed. Apparently, Faye’s lawyer filed a motion to resign from the case, only a few hours before the trial was set to begin. What Faye’s lawyer claimed in his motion was the fact that he had a conflict and could no longer represent in court Stephen Collins’ wife.
Consequently, the trial had to be postponed to allow Faye to find a new attorney. So, the new date was set for January 5. This means that Faye has more than one month to find a new lawyer and make the case to get legal representation in court. Stephen Collins did not make an appearance in court linked on this hearing.
However, People reported that the actor has a separate filing against his former wife, claiming $1 million from her share of the community property. His lawyer claimed that “Faye has known for over 2 1/2 years that in the event that the recording should find its way into the public arena, that would constitute a further breach of her fiduciary duty, and Stephen would seek to hold her accountable for the damages sustained as a result of her conduct in this regard.”
The actor’s attorney is referring to the recordings that Faye made when the couple had therapy back in 2012. So, what the actor is willing to show is that Faye deeply damaged his image. Consequently, his legal team went to ask a judge to terminate an order to pay his wife a $13,000 monthly spousal support. The reason for that is that the scandal affected his projects and consequently it affected his earnings.
Faye Grant denied that she leaked the tape from the couple’s therapy. On this tape, a man, who is said to be Stephen Collins, confesses to have had inappropriate sexual conduct with underage girls. Stephen Collins is currently under investigation by authorities in New York and Los Angeles, after a woman claimed that she had been molested by the famous actor.
