Actress Soleil Moon Frye, the wonder child star from the 80s “Punky Brewster” releases her own book about parenting. “Happy Chaos” is the story of her life as a mother of two and about the charm that “a little” chaos can have upon the everyday life. Frye talked to Parade.com about her two daughters, her past as a trendy rock star kid and about why her book is different from other motherhood advice books.
Soleil Moon Frye’s new book, “Happy Chaos” is totally different from what you have read until now, according to its author. The actress says that it is a proof of what sisterhood means when it comes to sharing advice on motherhood. “The majority of the parenting books I read spoke to me in a way that said, ‘This is how to do this, and this is how you do that.’ There was nothing in those parenting books that told me what was going to happen in the hospital [for the birth]”, the actress told the website and added that not even her friends prepared her for what was to come. “I was like, ‘How do we not share this? It should be like a sisterhood.’”
When it comes to raising her daughters, Frye does not claim to know it all, but she definitely supports open conversations about what children want and need to know. “We definitely talk about the things that happen to our bodies. They ask me questions and I’m very honest”, she says.
As for her Punky Brewster character, Frye always kept a warm spot in her heart for the little punky funny kid of the 80s. “She was spunky and such a fun character to play because she was full of love and life.”
“Happy Chaos” is already available on Amazon for a price of about 12 dollars (for the hard cover), 14 dollars (for the Kindle edition) and 24 dollars (for the audiobook).
