The final battle for the winner title in the “So You Think You Can Dance” show, season 8, was given between Melanie, Sasha, Marko and Tadd.
The show started with a group dance. Then the pairs were made and each pair had a dance routine on a song, as the usual. The first pair performing was Sasha and Kent, on Mary’s favorite dance : Tyce Diorio, contemporary routine. Nigel’s favorite dance was a hip-hop routine performed by Melanie and Marko. Tadd and Lauren performed a jazz routine, Robin’s favorite, and Robert and Miranda gave their best in a hip-hop routine, Lil’ C’s favorite. Then followed Cat’s favorite dance, which was not a competitive piece. The contestants could catch their breath while a short performance of a musical guest – SYTYCD UK winner, Matt Flint. Three performances later (Melanie and Neil – contemporary; Marko and Allison – contemporary; Top Ten Girls – jazz), the first eliminations followed. After a recap of their performances, the person chosen to land on the fourth place was Tadd.
The second round led to the elimination of Marko, who was above satisfied with his performance. As Cat Deeley said, he was “the last man standing”. The final competition was between Sasha and Melanie. Their last performance was a jazz routine, Nigel’s favorite dance. Before announcing the winner ,the show host invited all to watch a video on the performance of the two dancers over time. At the end of the footage, the girls were already crying on stage and hugging. “And the winner is …Melanie!”
Now, Melanie Moore is looking at a price of 250,000 dollars, an appearance on the cover of Dance Spirit magazine and a promotional campaign. She will be named a “Gatorade Athlete”.
