Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan started wrestling company

Billy Corgan, the frontman of Smashing Pumpkins, started his own wrestling company in Chicago, the Associated Press reports. The musician has been a fan of professional wrestling since he was a child and now has rediscovered his passion.

Corgan has joined forces with two professional wrestling promoters and started his own company, named Resistance Pro. The trio debuts the first wrestling show on Friday, in a Chicago club. The singer says that this has been a passion of his since the childhood years and never got the chance to get into it. Now, when he reconnected with the long-lost passion, he materialized his dream of being a part of the professional wrestling world.
“Our vision is to try to grow talent”, he said recently in an interview, while still touring Europe with Smashing Pumpkins. The band will not end the tour on Friday, so Corgan will not be present at the debut show of Resistance pro. Gabe Baron, one of his associates, says that the next game will be announced at the Friday event.

Meanwhile, if you are interested in knowing more about the project, you can visit the official page of the company, which boasts pictures of several wrestling pros, such as ”Danny Dominion “, “The Sheik,” or “Sassy Stephie”.  The ad for the Friday night event features a big photo of Corgan among other wrestler’s pictures. “This is a guy who is on the same page as we are as far as how wrestling should be” said the Gabe brother about the rock star.

As far as Corgan’s hopes for the future of wrestling go, he believes that it would be better that the wrestlers would resume to just creating entertainment, ditching the more violent part in the game. “As a fan, I don’t like to see my heroes worn down and broken”, he said. “I believe we can take it into a more casual mainstream”.
