Both singer Paul Simon and his wife Edie Brickell are now facing domestic violence charges. It seems that the two stars were charged after what has been called a family dispute, which occurred on Saturday.
The two singers were released from the police custody, but they have to appear in court on Monday. The hearing will take in Norwalk. Actually, the cops decided to release the two, after they promised to make it for their court appearance. And they did as promised, as the two singers arrived in court looking rather happy, smiling and holding hands.
Apparently, the cops were called in for a dispute on Saturday, at 8.20 pm. The cops who arrived at the scene of the events claimed that Simon and Brickell were involved in a minor altercation. The reports from the scene revealed that no one was severely injured. However, it seems that some minor injuries were seen on both sides. Probably, this is the reason why both singers were taken into custody.
The attorney of the couple claimed that this was actually a minor dispute between the two and since it was not something serious, the court should dismiss the case. None of the two singers were held into custody. Moreover, the dispute occurred on the property of the couple.
Both Paul Simon and Edie Brickell looked really relaxed while arriving in court, saying that they are perfectly fine. Still, the couple will have to make another court appearance on May 16.
Paul and Edie wedded in 1992. The two always seemed to be a happy couple, so the fact that they might have certain issues is quite surprising. Paul Simon achieved worldwide fame while being part of the duo Simon & Garfunkel. Edie Brickell is highly famous for her membership in the band New Bohemians.
At this point, it remains unclear the reason why Edie and Paul were fighting at the moment when the cops were called in. The couple have been married for no less than 22 years and they have 3 children together. After the court hearing, Paul said that he and his wife Edie still love each other very much.
