Popular actress Shirley Temple passed away at the age of 85. The actress became extremely famous as a child star, actually being the most popular child star in the history of Hollywood. Reports reveal that Shirley died of natural causes in her California home.
A statement indicates that Shirley was surrounded by family and caregivers at the time of her death.
“We salute her for a life of remarkable achievements as an actor, as a diplomat, and… our beloved mother, grandmother [and] great-grandmother,” the statement added according to BBC.
The popular actress actually achieved worldwide fame at the age of only 3. Shirley was already a star when she turned 10, being one of the best paid actresses of her time, the star making no less than 50,000 as a monthly salary, which was something absolutely impressive.
Shirley Temple made her acting debut as a child star in 1932, when she was cast in War Babies. The movie was a huge success, so Shirley was cast in numerous other famous productions.
Until the 1940s, Shirley was cast in many movies, but she did not manage to remain in the spotlight after growing up, as well, such as other actresses did, including here names such as Elizabeth Taylor. She ended her last acting contract before she reached her teenage years.
Still, Shirley Temple found a new passion, the famous actress evolving to develop a career as a diplomat. She also ran for the Congress, but unfortunately she did not won. Still, the actress was a US representative in the United Nations and an ambassador to Ghana.
When it comes to her personal life, Shirley survived two important moments. She developed a serious illness due to some complications linked to childbirth, but Shirley also suffered a mastectomy and battled breast cancer.
