Following the trend of celebrity weddings this year, actress Sara Ramirez is about to start her own family, as she received an engagement ring from her beau, Ryan Debolt, Us Weekly reports.
Grey’s Anatomy fans may be more familiar to Sara’s work. In the popular series, she played Callie Torres an orthopedic surgeon who, after a tormenting romantic life discovers new things about her sexuality.
A representative for Ramirez told Us Magazine that the two lovebirds were thrilled to announce their engagement, which took place in Paris, France, on June 17, 2011.
Sara Ramirez, 35, is also a singer. She is best known in the music field for her interpretation in the musical Spamalot where she played Lady of the Lake in 2005.
She was born in Mazatlan, Sinaloa, Mexico. She is Three quarters Mexican and one quarter American. When she was 8 years old, she moved with her mother in San Diego, California. She graduated from Juilliard School in New York City and debuted on Broadway in 1998 playing Wahzinak in the play The Capeman. In 2005 she won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actress in a Musical for her role as Lady of the Lake in Spamalot.
Ramirez was cast in the Grey’s Anatomy series in the second season. She played the role of Dr. Calliope Torres – Callie – and in the third season she already became a regular. Her character is a former Chief Resident and an orthopedic surgeon at Grace Mercy West Hospital in Seattle. She comes froma very wealthy family, who lives in Florida. After many ups and downs in her romantic life, calie discovers that she is in love with colleague Arizona Robbins ( played by Jessica Capshaw). After breaking up a few times as well, the couple decides to get married.
Sara Ramirez once confessed to Oprah during a special show on Grey’s Anatomy series, that the producers of the movie, having seen her perform on Broadway, asked her to come and play in their series on ABC , anyone she likes. She picked Grey’s Anatomy as she was a big fan. It looks like her character was a lucky charm for her.
