Santorum Spills The Beans, Mitt Romney Closer To Nomination

If so far Rick Santorum has been giving Mitt Romney a hard time, the senator’s recent comment will surely boost the former Massachusetts governor in polls. This Monday, Santorum spilled the beans with a comment that will bring Romney closer to nomination.

It’s been written and commented with numerous occasions. Americans today want their next president to have a good understanding of the present economic environment and want candidates to have smart and reasonable economy boosting policies. Plus, even more Americans want a candidate with a plan to reduce the unemployment rate. With other words, voters today are sick of political discourse, they want facts.

But someone must have failed to announce Rick Santorum and its campaign about how important are for American voters economic issues and unemployment rates. His comment made this Monday is going to cost him considerably as he heads into the Illinois primary and not only. For some time now, Santorum has been perceived as the alternative to Mitt Romney, but chances are things will change.

The U.S. Senator told voters at a campaign appearance in Illinois his bid does not focus on the main issues of today’s United States. So, instead of addressing hardships such as economy and unemployment that have impacted every American over the past few years, Santorum wants to be a freedom fighter.

“I don’t care what the unemployment rate’s going to be. Doesn’t matter to me. My campaign doesn’t hinge on unemployment rates and growth rates. It’s something more foundational that’s going on” said Santorum. And that was just one part of his speech.

The first part talked about how Americans need “a candidate who’s going to be a fighter for freedom. Who’s going to get up and make that the central theme in this race because it is the central theme in this race”.

Perhaps Rick Santorum crumbled under the Republican race pressure, or perhaps someone with the campaign gave him the wrong speech cards. The truth is that with such a statement Rick Santorum has officially lost the battle.

Mitt Romney did not miss the opportunity his less experienced opponent gave him. “One of the people who is running also for the Republican nomination today said that he doesn’t care about the unemployment rate; that does bother me” said Romney.
