Famous singer Sam Smith opened up about his long battle with weight issues. The famous musician claimed during a recent interview that being called fat actually hurts him a lot, much more than any homophobic slurs. The star made the revelations during an interview with Australia’s 60 Minutes.
“If someone called me fat, that affects me way more than someone calling me a f****t,” the star claimed during his interview. “I think just because I’ve accepted that, if someone calls me a f****t, it’s like, I am gay and I’m proud to be gay so there’s no issues there. If something calls you fat, that’s something I want to change,” he explained.
Sam Smith also claimed that he gained a lot of weight because food actually served as his strategy to cope with stress, when he was a child. “Food has controlled me,” the famous musician said. “When I was at school and I wasn’t having a great time or when music wasn’t going very well, I would eat,” the singer claimed, adding that “eating made me feel better.”
The popular musician went on to reveal that he still battles with emotional eating. He actually alleged that he gained a lot of weight since he moved to London, from his home town. Of course, his successful musical career made the star take the decision to move to the capital of England. “I genuinely think I gained about two stones [28 pounds] when I moved here,” Sam Smith claimed. “Just get loads of chicken and watched ‘Lost’ every night after work,” he added.
However, it seems that this time the star is determined to model the perfect body looks. Smith claimed that he managed to lose 14 pounds in only two weeks, all with the help of Amelia Freer, a popular nutritionist. The great weight loss results were revealed by Sam Smith himself, through an Instagram post. The star claimed that Amelia Freer actually changed his life, not only helping him lose weight, but actually helping him completely transform his relationship with food and becoming happy with himself.
