Rose to sign five-year contract extension with the Bulls

Based on a recent report published by Reuters, Rose agreed to sign a five-year contract extension with the Bulls on Wednesday. The news was confirmed by the National Basketball Association, but no other details were released in relation to the salary that Derrick Rose will receive for continuing to play at the Chicago Bulls.

Even though the Nation Basketball Association and the Bulls were very discreet about the new contract, the media was able to estimate how much money Rose will receive in the next five years. According to their calculations, the deal was worth $94 million.

Gar Forman, the Chicago Bulls general manager, told the press that the team is very happy to have signed the extension with Rose. The Bulls seem to be getting along very well with the player because he is talented, but also because he has many other assets, such as, his character, his determination and his leadership, said Forman. Now that Derrick is on their side, the squad thinks they will be able to become a championship team in the following five years.

Rose is indeed a very talented basketball player and his professionalism was acknowledged when he won the Most Valuable Player award in the season 2010-2011. He was the youngest player to receive this award after averaging 25 points per game last season. Thanks to him, the Chicago Bulls have managed to reach the Eastern Conference Finals for the first time since 1998.

Derrick Rose’s career accomplishments don’t stop here. He was also the first player to register more than 2,000 points, 600 assists and 300 rebounds in a single NBA season. In 2009, he was named Rookie of the Year after the Bulls chose him as the first pick overall in the draft. His results rival the ones settled by Oscar Robertson, John Havlicek, Michael Jordan and LeBron James.

The 23-year-old basketball player released an interview for Reuters saying that he is honored to play for his team. Rose further stated that it was a dream come true to be able to play for Chicago and thanks to the extension the dream will continue. Rose is proud to represent the city he grew up in and he promised all his fans that he will win an NBA championship for Chicago.
