On Saturday, rocker Gene Simmons from the band KISS, got married to his longtime sweetheart, Shannon Tweed. The wedding ceremony took place in Beverly Hills, Us Weekly reports.
KISS rocker Gene Simmons decided it was time for him to grow up and tie the knot. So, on Saturday, he said “I do” to his longtime girlfriend and the mother of his children, former Playboy model Shannon Tweed. The ceremony was held at the Beverly Hills hotel and the guests were over 400. Among them, there was Playboy founder Hugh Hefner, Bill Maher and the members of KISS.
The marriage proposal was made by the bassist during the final episode in the latest season of their reality show, “Gene Simmons’ Family Jewels”. He offered Tweed a 24-carat diamond sparkler in July. The wedding has also been taped and will be aired in the first episode of the upcoming season.
Gene Simmons, 62, and Shannon tweed, 54, have been living together for 28 years and have two children: a boy, Nick, who is 22, and a girl, Sophie, who is 19. Sophie was a maid of honor at her parent’s wedding and sang Etta James’s “At Last” for the bride and groom’s first dance.
Before the wedding, Simmons admitted to Entertainment Tonight that the reason it took him so long to make this step was because he was too immature to deal with his feelings. “It is time for me to grow up. I’m 62. I’ve been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time…and there’s nobody I’ve ever said ‘I love you’ to”, the rocker confessed. “I even find it difficult to say ‘I love you’ to my mother”, he continued, and added that, despite all that, he really loves his wife with his “heart and soul”.
