This week, for the first time since Kristen Stewart cheated on him with director Rupert Sanders, Robert Pattinson spoke to the media. During an interview with Jon Stewart, Robert Pattinson said “Cosmopolis” is his director’s credit and successfully avoided talking about the elephant in the room.
Since Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders issued public statements apologizing for their “momentary indiscretion”, everybody’s been waiting for Robert Pattinson’s reaction. He asked his longtime girlfriend to move from the house they shared together and went out away from the public eye for a few days.
Although everybody’s waiting for Robert Pattinson to publicly talk about his girlfriend cheating on him, chances are the actor will avoid addressing the elephant in the room. Much like he did on Jon Stewart’s “The Daily Show” this Monday night. It was his first interview since the Kristen Stewart – Rupert Sanders scandal blew up in their faces.
Robert Pattinson’s interview on “The Daily Show” was basically about nothing much. The actor tried to talk only about “Cosmopolis”, the most recent film he played in. In the meanwhile, Jon Stewart tried to get him to talk about his recent heartbreak.
“We’re just a couple of gals… tell me everything!” said Jon Stewart trying to break the ice. “Listen, the last time I had a bad breakup, Ben and Jerry got me through” Jon Stewart said handing Pattinson some ice cream. “So I though you and I could bond over this and talk about, ‘Boy, you are better off. Kick her to the curb” he added.
“This is a program where I can feel awkward in every situation” replied the “Twilight” star. “I’m trying to avoid eating” he added. “Are you all right” Jon Stewart continued. “I don’t know how to approach this. This is the weird thing about these interviews. I’m going to sound like an idiot” confessed Robert Pattinson.
It was about that time that Robert Pattinson realized why so many other celebrities hire a publicist. “Normally actors get scripted with an anecdote. I’m going to hire a publicist” he told Jon Stewart.
At the end of his interview with Robert Pattinson, Jon Stewart had some bits of advice: “Here’s my wish for you. I know you’re going through some weird business. Get a handle on your business in private. I wish you all the best. You’re a nice guy”.
