Based on a recent report published by Huffington Post, actor Rob Lowe was selected to play the part of the prosecutor in a new movie inspired by the Casey Anthony case. The film will be broadcast on the Lifetime Movie Network and it will be entitled “Prosecuting Casey Anthony”.
Producers at Lifetime Movie Network have been impressed by the Casey Anthony case which was subject to the media’s attention in 2008. Back then, Caylee Marie Anthony, a two year-old girl in Orlando, Florida was reported missing by her grandparents in July. Police officers searched her for a long period of time and eventually managed to find the remains of her dead body in a wooded area near the home, a few months later. The mother, Casey Anthony, was arrested for first-degree murder, but was acquitted in 2011 causing much discontent to Orlando residents.
Among the actors who will feature in the film is Rob Lowe who was chosen to play the part of the Florida prosecutor, Jeff Ashton. The actor declared that he is familiar with crime stories; in fact, he recently played in a Lifetime production called “Drew Peterson: Untouchable”.
Ashton is the protagonist of the movie and viewers will be able to witness the case through his eyes. In addition, people will understand the crime drama that the prosecutor had to go through when he didn’t manage to get a first-degree murder against the then 22-year-old mother. The movie was also inspired by the book that the prosecutor wrote as soon as Casey Anthony has been acquitted, namely “Imperfect Justice: Prosecuting Casey Anthony”.
The movie will take viewers behind the doors of the court enabling them to get exclusive information about the case. The Lifetime motion picture could finally explain what happened to the two year-old girl. According to producers’ declarations, the broadcast will also present the reasons why Ashton continues to believe that the mother of the girl was the one who committed the crime.
