Famous and longtime American Idol judge Randy Jackson decided to leave the show. Randy Jackson announced that he will not be back on the show for Season 14, which is set to start in January.
Randy Jackson was one of the three original judges of the show when it premiered back in 2002, joining Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul on an incredible adventure. Randy Jackson gained a lot of fame along with the TV show, which became a big hit. All American Idol fans are aware of the term “Dawg,” which Randy Jackson constantly used.
This is not the first time when Randy Jackson decides to leave the show. In fact, the famous judge announced his departure in May 2013. However, he later changed his mind and made a comeback for Season 13 of American Idol. Still, it seems that this time he is really determined to leave American Idol.
“After 13 seasons I felt now was the perfect time to leave American Idol. I’m proud to have been a part of a series that discovered some incredible artists and will go down in history as one of the most successful television shows ever. A true original, Idol started it all. Onto what’s next,” Randy Jackson said in a statement.
The producers of the show also released a statement to announce the end of their collaboration with Randy Jackson, for the Idol. “Randy has been such an integral part of American Idol since day one, both as a judge and as a mentor,” the statement said, adding that the star has “provided great advice and support, shaping the success of so many Idols we have discovered over the years. We wish him all the best in his next chapter. Randy will always be part of our Idol family and we hope he’ll visit from time to time.”
The 14th season of American Idol will feature Ryan Seacrest and Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr., as judges. So, host Ryan Seacrest is the only original cast member of the American Idol.
