Samsung will launch a new smartphone model on March 14th, at 7 p.m., in New York as the invitations have already been sent. The manufacturer decided to launch the new smartphone in the United States and not in South Korea because the demand for the new model was very big, the Associated Press relates.
The official announcement related to the launching of a new Samsung Galaxy smartphone was made during last night’s interview with the company’s mobile chief, JK Shin. He told reporters that the new phone has triggered everyone’s curiosity, especially U.S. carriers, which insisted that the Galaxy manufacturer released its new product on the local market. “We were bombarded with requests from U.S. mobile carriers to unveil the Galaxy S IV in the country,” Shin explained.
The launching event will, thus, take place in New York, at 7 p.m., on March 14 and analysts believe Samsung Galaxy S IV could be just as successful as its predecessor, Galaxy S III. The latter is one of the best sold smartphones on the market at present being in a close competition with Apple’s iPhone 5.
Organizers have come up with an equally interesting concept for the preparation of the launching event. The invitation is, in fact, a puzzle that directs owners towards an online website where they can download the documents they need in order to take part in the event. The black envelope features the “Unpacked” logo on the front. Inside the envelope, there is a black cardboard which forms a cube when opened. The QR code that must be scanned and entered on unpacked2013.com is on a plastic card that was placed inside the cube.
Samsung did not make any official declarations in relation to the features that the new smartphone might have. The phone was, nevertheless, rumored to have a 4.99-inch, 1080p screen, an Exynox 5 eight-core processor, as well as 2 GB of RAM. The front-facing camera might have 2 megapixels, whereas the rear-facing one could feature up to 13 megapixels, which is a lot compared to the 8-megapixel camera foreseen on Galaxy SII and Galaxy SIII. Nothing is certain at the moment, but analysts expect the new phone to run on the latest version of Android, that is, 4.2.2. Jelly Bean, given that the software has already been released at the beginning of the year.
