Paul Walker remains without a doubt one of the best known and loved actors in the world. Unfortunately, Paul Walker died in a car accident, which meant the loss of one of the most talented young actors in Hollywood.
Paul Walker’s daughter decided to file a lawsuit against Porsche AG, accusing the famous car manufacturer of the wrongful death of her father. Now, about two months later, the star’s father filed a similar case against the company.
The lawsuit papers were obtained by People magazine, which indicated that Paul William Walker III accused Porsche for his son’s death, as the car which crashed and caused the tragedy, a Porsche Carrera GT, allegedly lacked particular safety features. According to the lawsuit, features such a stability control system, as well as a breakaway fuel line were either missing or made from low quality materials.
Allegedly, the side-door reinforcements’ quality was at the same time questionable. The lawsuit stated that proper safety measures would have prevented the vehicle from catching on fire, after it crashed. It also said that the seat belt design trapped the actor in the vehicle. The legal complaint alleged that Paul was alive, but died because the vehicle burst into flames 1 minute and 20 seconds after the crash.
Similar claims were made by Meadow, Paul’s daughter, but Porsche denied the accusations. The famous company refused to take the blame for what happened and claimed that it should not be held accountable for the accident. “Mr. Walker’s voluntary assumption of the risk should bar the plaintiff’s recovery or, in the alternative, should reduce the plaintiff’s right to recovery from PCNA in an amount equivalent to Mr. Walker’s fault,” the company stated.
However, this is not all. Porsche also claimed that it believed that the vehicle was misused and also improperly maintained. Furthermore, it stated that “misuse and improper maintenance proximately caused or contributed to the incident and to Mr. Walker’s death.”
Without a doubt, Paul Walker’s family is searching for justice, but it is yet to see if a court will find the company responsible for the accident. The famous actor died in 2013.
