Los Angeles was home to one of the most important galas, namely, the 2012 MTV Movie Awards which was hosted on June 3. The event was full of surprises ranging from unexpected winners to outrageous star-studded moments, according to the Associated Press.
Celebrities like to take advantage of every opportunity they have to add another trophy to their list of awards. This is why all stars were anxiously waiting for this weekend’s MTV Movie Awards to see which the most appreciated movie of the year is. The stage was decorated as a futuristic drive-in in order to give fans the impression that they are immerged in a movie.
The host of the evening was Russell Brand who awarded the winners of the 2012 edition. The British comedian surprised everyone when he took his guitar and gave a perfect rendition of “Gold On The Ceiling” and “Lonely Boy” with the help of The Black Eyes. The moment was preceded by Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry’s presentation of Johnny Depp as the winner of this year’s Generation Award.
The band called Fun. was another performer of the event. The singers interpreted their most recent hit “We Are Young”. The organizers of the show brought a huge velvet-padded box for the concert and a choir of 12 persons. Singer Janelle Monae also joined them on stage.
“Hunger Games” is the biggest winner of the evening managing to get four awards for the categories of “Best Female”, “Best Male”, “Best Fight” and “Best On-Screen Transformation”. The second most-awarded movie was the “Bridesmaids” comedy which received two trophies. The same results were obtained by “Harry Potter and the Deadly Hallows: Part 2” which received the “Best Cast” and “Best Hero” popcorns. The “Best Kiss” category was won by Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson for their romantic scene in the “Twilight Saga”, whereas Shailene Woodley from “The Descendants” is this year’s winner of “Best Breakthrough Performance”.
Charlie Sheen, the actor who has made a reputation out of partying was invited to award the cast of “Project X” as one of the greatest party films of all time. According to him, the movie could become the next Instant Cult Classic.
