For the former “Frasier” star, Kelsey Grammer, 2012 has begun as nice as it gets, with one Golden Globe Award and two twins on their way. After winning the award, Kelsey went backstage and announced his peers and friends him and his wife are expecting twins.
On Sunday, the Golden Globes reunited the best in the industry with Ricky Gervais as a host even after his last performance. In fact a lot of people didn’t expect the British comedian to be back hosting the show, but it seems that for the Hollywood Foreign Press Association controversy is a good way to sell more tickets.
Going beyond Gervais’ jokes and saying the Golden Globes are to the Oscars “what Kim Kardashian is to Kate Middleton — louder, trashier, drunker and more easily bought”, the overall ceremony was a success. So, “The Descendants” and “The Artist” were awarded the Golden Globe for the best picture, and Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Michelle Williams and Jean Dujardin got the Golden Globe for the best performance in a motion picture.
Among the surprises of the evening was Kelsey Grammer’s winning of the award for the best actor in a TV drama series for his part in “Boss”, as well as his own announcement he will be a dad for the fifth time.
Kelsey Grammer, age 56, currently plays the part of Chicago Mayor Tom Kane in the Starz series “Boss”. Tom Kane is a corrupt politician trying to cope and mask a constant deteriorating mental condition. Previously, Grammer played the role of Dr. Frasier Crane, psychiatrist, in NBC’s sitcom “Frasier”, part which brought the actor two Golden Globe awards in 1996 and 2001.
In the closing of his acceptance speech he thanked his wife, the 32 year old former flight attendant Kate Walsh “for the future and what a magnificent year it’s been”, adding that Kate is going to be an “extraordinary” mother. “She’s one of the most loving, amazing, warm human beings I’ve ever met”, said Kelsey.
Kelsey Grammer additionally said backstage: “Fatherhood’s always different, based upon the character that comes into your life. They arrive and tell you what you have to do”.
