Us Weekly reports that the band One Direction will star in a new 3D film documenting their artistic evolution. The movie is due to be released next year during Labor Day weekend.
One Direction needs as much publicity as possible now that they are just beginning their musical career as a boy band. What better way to let people know that there is a new group in town than to make a movie about it? You guessed it, make a 3D movie about it.
It is precisely what Simon Cowell, the boys’ manager, must have said to himself when elaborating a new campaign for the boys’ promotion. The name of the flick hasn’t been released yet, but it will most certainly benefit of increased popularity considering that Sony Pictures has agreed to take care of its production.
The director of the movie is Morgan Spurlock, who also produced the movie “Super Size Me”. In case the name of the latter is just as confusing to you as it is to me, too, you might find it useful to know that “Super Size Me” is a filmed experiment of the influence that fast food has on Morgan Spurlock’s health. The documentary received a 7.4 rate on movie websites, so we assume Spurlock will do a great job for the boys’ film, as well.
According to the statement released by the reps of the band, the movie gives viewers the possibility to better know the five members of One Direction. Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson come from different places and they all have an interesting story to share with their fans.
The band was formed in 2010 after the boys were discovered by Simon Cowell during UK’s talent show “The X Factor”. Since then, they managed to sell more than 13 million records worldwide and to make their names known thanks to singles like “What Makes You Beautiful”, “One Thing” and “Live While We’re Young”.
