Ann Romney did her best standing by her husband, but it’s definitely Michelle Obama who swept voters off their feet. Tuesday night, the First lady said Obama lived the American Dream so he knows the hurdles of today’s Americans.
You’ve got to hand it to her: Michelle Obama is an amazing diplomat, although she’s just the President’s wife. During her recent speech before the Democratic National Convention, Michelle Obama never once mentioned Mitt Romney’s name but made it clear there’s a huge contrast between her husband and the Republican nominee in the White House race.
Michelle Obama’s speech deserves all the praise. She did her job well as the First lady and gave voters all the reasons why Barack Obama is so different to Mitt Romney. To begin with, Barack Obama was an average Joe himself so he knows how everyday’s struggles can be overwhelming.
“Barack knows the American Dream because he’s lived it, and he wants everyone in this country to have that same opportunity, no matter who we are, or where we’re from, or what we look like, or who we love” said Michelle Obama. Within seconds, the First lady took her husband’s message to basically everybody in the United States and hinted at all the important achievements of the first term.
“He believes that when you’ve worked hard, and done well, and walked through that doorway of opportunity, you do not slam it shut behind you” reads Michelle Obama’s speech. “You reach back, and you give other folks the same chances that helped you succeed” she added.
Michelle Obama talked about how her husband was raised by a single mother and his grandparents. She recalled of the student loans both her and Barack Obama took on as young adults. It was all meant to emphasize Barack Obama does actually stand for the average Joe, going through the same issues most Americans today are overwhelmed by.
“But at the end of the day, when it comes time to make that decision, as president, all you have to guide you are your values, and your vision, and the life experiences that make you who you are” said the First lady.
In a nutshell, Michelle Obama’s speech in favor of her husband was a success. Of course, she didn’t even have to utter Mitt Romney’s name. The history of the Obamas was enough to get voters thinking whether they want the man who knows what are the hurdles of today’s Americans or the man who lived only a life of wealth.
