It seems like Nicolas Cage’s problems never end. After his well known financial shortages, Nick’s series of misfortunes culminated on Friday with his arrest in New Orleans. Alcohol and anger seems to be the cause of this latest trouble with the law. According to the police, the Oscar winning actor was drunk and started a quarrel with his wife in front of a residence in the French Quarter.
The New Orleans Police spokesman, Garry Flot stated that 47 year old Nicolas Cage was arrested at around 11:30 pm and charged with domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public drunkenness.
According to Flot’s statement, the argument between the famous actor and his wife started over a disagreement regarding the correct address of a property. The couple was in front of a residence which Cage claimed was the one they were renting. His wife did not agree and she was pulled by her arm by her husband to the address he believed to be the right one. A police officer was called to the scene by neighbors, after Nicolas Cage began to hit cars and tried to leave by taxi. The officer demanded that Cage exit the cab upon noticing that he was very drunk at which point the actor started shouting and was taken into custody to Central Lock-up. The Police spokesman also added that Cage’s wife had no visible injuries.
After this incident, Nicolas Cage was expected to appear in court on Saturday afternoon.
This was not the first time the police was called because of the actor’s public conduct. Only one month ago, also in New Orleans, the police had to escort Nick out of a restaurant after an incident which resulted in a broken window. The restaurant management did not press charges and Cage was assisted to return to the hotel he was staying at.
The actor is well known for his short temper. At the end of last year, he was in Bucharest, Romania, filming for Ghost Rider 2 and got into a shouting argument with the film’s director. The incident took place in front of a nightclub. He was eventually calmed down by his bodyguards and left the scene.
Nicolas Cage’s films include: “Gone in 60 Seconds”, “National Treasure” and “Con Air”. He is also famous for being the nephew of film director Francis Ford Coppola and for his marriage with Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis Presley’s daughter.
In 1995, after two nominations, he won an Oscar for playing the role of an alcoholic in “Leaving Las Vegas”.
