Some tragic news have hit the Freeman family. The granddaughter of famous actor Morgan Freeman was fatally stabbed. According to officials, E’Dena Hines was found on a street near her apartment, in Washington Heights. The police confirmed that she suffered multiple stab wounds.
It remains unknown if at the time when E’Dena was found she was still breathing. However, she was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
Officials suspect that the murderer is no one else than her boyfriend, Lamar Davenport. Lamar was already taken into custody. Moreover, police officials claimed that he was transferred to a hospital for mental evaluation.
Police sources claimed that the arrest followed some reports by eye witnesses, who claimed that Lamar was seen attacking the young woman. Actually, the man was said to perform an “exorcism” on her, this being one of the reasons why officials decided that Lamar should undergo a mental evaluation. Witnesses claimed that the man yelled “get out, devils. I cast you out, devils,” while stabbing the woman.
Lamar remains hospitalized for the moment. The two were a couple for quite some time and were living together, some sources said. What made Lamar act crazy and stab the woman he was dating is unknown. He was charged with second-degree murder. Some claimed that at the time of the events, the man was in a drug-induced psychosis.
E’Dena Hines was actually studying acting, so it seems that she wanted to follow the footsteps of her grandfather. She was undergoing the New York University and was also a writer and acting instructor. She was only 33 years old. Morgan Freeman shared a message on his Facebook page following the tragic loss and thanked everyone for the support.
“I want to acknowledge the tremendous outpouring of love and support my family has received regarding the tragic and senseless passing of my granddaughter Edena Hines,” the message said. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart,” the famous actor added. “The world will never know her artistry and talent, and how much she had to offer.”
Although E’Dena was referred to as Morgan Freeman’s granddaughter, she was actually his step-granddaughter, being the granddaughter of the actor’s first wife, Jeanette Adair.
