Actress Mischa Barton had dealt with a lot of issues. She definitely seems to be in a better place now, but the star decided to open up about the struggle she has been through. Mischa talked about emotional abuse and the fact that she was blackmailed by her former boyfriend. The former boyfriend is the one who leaked Mischa’s sex tape.
So, Mischa talked about these subjects during an interview on Dr. Phil. She claimed that her former boyfriend took some intimate photos and videos of her, without her consent. She went on to say that it was all an emotional blackmail and the star was visibly emotional while making these statements.
“It got to me because somebody came up to me on the street, outside of the building leaving and said, ‘There’s something I need to tell you,’ ” the actress said. “I didn’t believe it at first, I couldn’t believe it, because I have loved this person and I didn’t think it was possible, and I later learned that it’s entirely possible,” she went on to add.
Mischa, who is best known for her role in The O.C., claimed that she received a restraining order against her former boyfriend. The man allegedly sold the photos and video. However, that is not all. Mischa also obtained a restraining order against another former boyfriend, Adam Shaw. Shaw allegedly copied the photos and the video from Jon Zacharias’s computer, the boyfriend who took them in the first place.
Mischa was of course very much affected by everything. “It was obviously complete emotional blackmail, it was one of those things where I needed to distance myself from all of these people immediately because there’s not much you can do; it’s really out of your hands, and it was a crime,” the famous actress claimed.
She went on to say that it was her mistake that she allowed this to happen. “It is a serious crime to tape people without their knowledge like that and I had made the mistake of putting myself in the situation with the person so I just removed myself as quickly as I could and then it just continued to be complete emotional abuse after that for the last several, several months,” she concluded.
