Miranda Lambert and Taylor Swift were declared the big winners of the Academy of Country Music Awards 2012 after obtaining numerous honors on Sunday night. According to Reuters, this year’s edition of the ACM Awards included numerous performances of rock music bands, such as, U2 and KISS.
Country music continues to be one of the most appreciated genres in America along with pop, rock and R&B. The ACM Awards are celebrated each year in California to honor the best performers of the year. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton went home with numerous awards, this edition, whereas Taylor Swift was awarded with the most prestigious honor “Entertainer of the Year”.
Swift was incredibly surprised to receive the biggest award at the ACM gala. She told reporters backstage that she owes everything to her fans and she sent them best wishes. The couple of the gala, Shelton and Lambert took home many awards, including best male vocalist for him and best female vocalist and album of the year for her. Shelton was also the co-host of the show, so he was very surprised to hear his name called.
Lambert, on the other hand, secretly hoped to receive an award for her new album “Four the Record”. She stated that she was really hoping to get recognition for her “babies” because she spends every day wondering what she can do to improve her records.
Among the winners of the show were also Lady Antebellum and the Eli Young Band. Lady Antebellum was named the best vocal group for the fourth time this year due to their smashing hit called “Need You Now”. “Crazy Girl”, on the other hand, brought the honors of song of the year to the Eli Young Band. Mike Eli confessed that he waited for this award all his life and encouraged aspiring artists to follow their dreams.
The marriage of two country music fans was one of the beautiful events on the show. Christina Davidson, 31, and Frank Tucci, 33, went on stage to exchange vows. The moment was accompanied by a duet of the hit song “Marry Me” performed by Martina McBride and Train’s Pat Monahan.
