Michael Douglas and his wife Catherine Zeta-Jones have always been a happy couple. Moreover, it seems that despite the fact that they briefly separated, the two still love each other and were finally able to make things work.
At least, this is what Michael Douglas recently claimed. The famous Hollywood star revealed that he is more in love with Catherine than ever, after the “little bump in the road” that the famous pair met.
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones separated back in 2013. The two soon reconciled and Michael revealed that he and his life partner enjoy raising their two children together.
Michael made the revelations during a recent interview with The Daily Mail. The star opened up about his life post-Cancer. The famous actor, who is 70 years old now, seemed to be happy and doing well.
Michael and Catherine were married for about 13 years. The pair wedded back in 2000. Catherine has been besides her husband throughout the entire time when he was dealing with throat cancer. Michael made many headlines back in 2013, when be claimed that oral sex was a risk factor for the development of this type of cancer. However, he later on added that the statement was not referring to his particular case, but he was talking in general.
Well, it seems that the comments were considered to be quite embarrassing by his wife. “It was one of those things… and I so regretted any embarrassment that it caused Catherine. And her family,” Michael said during his interview. Michael revealed that his disease was the reason why the two drifted apart.
“We had a little bump in the road,” the actor said. “The problem in this business is that everything is so public.” “I was Stage 4 and I’d seen a lot of other people that I know go,” the actor went on to say. “It was pretty bad… but it got better. Then it even got good.”
Michael Douglas became cancer free in 2011. However, the stress of the disease and the treatment seem to have caused issues for the two. Catherine previously said that she got the diagnosis very hard.
Well, there was still love in this relationship after all. “I love Catherine as much, more than I ever have,” Michael said. “And hopefully the feeling’s mutual.”
Douglas also revealed that after his cancer diagnosis he started to see life and priorities differently. “You have a much deeper appreciation of marriage, of your children—you see everything a little bit clearer, and a little brighter.”
