Meryl Streep received a bouquet of flowers, a gift and a kiss on Tuesday at the Berlin Film Festival. The 62-year-old actress was awarded with a Golden Bear for her lifetime achievement. As she was delivering her speech on stage, a journalist and a reporter climbed on stage to offer her flowers and gifts in sign of appreciation.
The “Iron Lady” was surprised to see so much appreciation coming from the attendees of the Berlin Film Festival. The actress was honored for her career achievement with a Golden Bear, but several other journalists and reporters wanted to show their admiration for Streep.
Streep was telling people in the press how her Margaret Thatcher role changer her opinion about the former British Prime Minister, when she was interrupted by a journalist who gave her flowers and a kiss. The actress was very flattered by the bouquet of flowers and she even confessed that her husband didn’t get her any gift on Valentine’s Day.
The presents didn’t stop here; one reporter created a special Russian doll for Meryl Streep and handed to her while she was still on stage. Every new doll was an illustration of the actress in her major roles, including “The Devil Wears Prada” and “The Iron Lady”.
Meryl Streep received many other awards for her interpretation of Margaret Thatcher. She won a BAFTA award in London and a Golden Globe for the role in “The Iron Lady”. Based on critics’ suppositions, the actress will most likely win her third Oscar on February 26.
Streep told reporters that this year’s awards season was very strange because there were people telling her that she might win something, whereas others sustained the opposite. All these remarks made the Oscar-winning star feel like an attendant at a sports competition.
Thanks to “The Iron Lady”, Streep found out many interesting things that she didn’t know about Margaret Thatcher. The British Prime Minister was a feminist who paved the way for more equal rights between sexes and sustained women’s rights to choose when to have an abortion.
