Famous singer Mary J. Blige is no longer a married woman. The star and her husband have just announced their divorce. Mary J. Blige and Kendu Isaacs have been married for no less than 12 years before announcing the split. The sad news were already confirmed by the singer, who seems to have also wanted to assure her fans that the divorce will not interfere with her career plans.
So, Mary J. Blige claimed that the separation from her husband will not stop her from releasing a new album. “Ms. Blige is saddened to say it is true that she has filed for divorce, saying sometimes things don’t work how we hoped they would,” a rep for the artist said. “But there is a divine plan and a reason for everything.”
The official statement from the star’s rep also indicated that despite the proceedings, the singer will not delay her music or her tour. Thus, everything will remain unchanged in her career and her personal life will not influence in any way her plans.
“Mary will continue writing and working on her album, which is due out later this year, along with her world tour,” the rep clarified. “She thanks and appreciates her fans for their support and love through this very difficult emotional time.”
According to TMZ, the star has already filed the divorce papers, citing “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the separation. However, an interesting thing when it comes to the divorce papers is that Mary J. Blige has not listed the date of the separation. TMZ reported that on this particular section has been listed “to be determined.”
Another thing that TMZ reported is that the singer has asked the judge to prevent her now estranged husband from seeking spousal support. Isaacs is also serving as Mary J. Blige’s manager and it remains unknown if this will change because of the separation.
The split is surely unexpected, as the two have always seemed very happy throughout their long lasting marriage. The two stars wedded in 2003. They have no children together, although Isaacs has three children from a previous romance. He has not commented on the divorce filing.
