Famous actress Mary Grace Canfield has passed away. The star was 89. Reports reveal that Mary Grace Canfield suffered from lung cancer.
The actress died on Saturday in Santa Barbara, California. Mary Grace Canfield was known to suffer from lung cancer, a condition she battled for many years. Canfield was well known for her great role in the movie Green Acres, but she had numerous wonderful performances.
So, naturally, this is not the only famous role that the actress had. Mary Grace Canfield was also known for her many appearances in some of the most appreciated television series of her time. This include the notable Bewitched, The Love Boat, The Andy Griffith Show, but also the General Hospital.
Other roles worth to be mentioned include the ones in movies such as The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre, Pollyanna, but also Something Wicked This Way Comes. The actress also starred in Come Blow Your Horn, Half a House, Thriller, Poor Mr. Campbell, The Eleventh Hour, as well as Hazel, The Hathaways, Love, American Style, Family, Tabitha, and The Jackie Thomas Show.
However, Mary Grace Canfield will surely be remembered for her role as the handy woman Ralph Monroe in the CBS famous sitcom of the 1960s. Still, it seems that the actress wasn’t that happy with the fact that people would remember her for her role in this series.
In 2006, during an interview, the actress said that she would have preferred to be remembered for more complex performances. “To be remembered for Ralph kind of upsets me, only in the sense that it was so easy and undemanding,” the actress explained. Mary Grace Canfield also added that “It’s being known for something easy to do instead of something you worked hard to achieve.”
The news was confirmed by Mary Grace Canfield’s daughter, who told the Associated Press that the star has died of lung cancer at the hospice in Santa Barbara. The actress was born in Rochester, New York on September 2, 1924.
No other details have been released at this point by the family of the popular actress.
