Famous actor Mark Wahlberg seeks pardon for the assault that took place back in 1988. Back then, the actor was only 16 years old. The Transformers star assaulted at that moment a Vietnamese man. The pardon that the Hollywood actor seeks now aims to be a “formal recognition that I am not the same person that I was on the night of April 8, 1988.”
Mark Wahlberg already filed a petition seeking a pardon for assaulting this man. At the time when the incident occurred, the actor was arrested. It all happened in the star’s neighborhood, while the teenage actor was attempting a robbery outside a convenience store. The star was under the influence of drugs and alcohol when it all happened. He went to hit this man over the head. He tried to escape the police, but was unable to do so.
Although many years have passed since that troubled time in the famous actor’s life, Mark wants this to be out of his record. The 43 year old actor says that he thinks he should be pardoned because of his involvement in various charitable projects. The famous actor has since managed to stay away of troubles with the law, so he surely deserves to have his record clean.
“I have not engaged in philanthropic efforts in order to make people forget about my past,” the actor said in a statement. “To the contrary, I want people to remember my past so that I can serve as an example of how lives can be turned around and how people can be redeemed.” “The more complex answer is that receiving a pardon would be a formal recognition that I am not the same person that I was on the night of April 8, 1988,” the star also explained.
Until now the actor has received no answer if he will be given a pardon or not. This means that it is yet to find out if the Massachusetts advisory board of pardons will recommend a pardon for the actor. Without a doubt, Mark Wahlberg is a changed man now. Wahlberg is one of the most successful actors in the world.
