Maggie Gyllenhaal and husband Peter Sarsgaard are expecting their second baby. According to Us Weekly, the couple told their friends that the “Crazy Heart” actress plans on taking things a bit easier for the next months. The mom to be is four months into the pregnancy.
Gyllenhaal, 34, and Sarsgaard, 40, got married in 2009, during a ceremony which took place in Italy. However, they had been a couple since 2002. Maggie, Academy Awards nominee, and her husband already have a five years old daughter, Ramona.
Currently, the couple lives in Brooklyn, raising their daughter in the Boerum Hill neighborhood. The star, sister to Jake Gyllenhaal, finds it difficult to maintain a good balance between her family life and her career.
In an interview for Us in January 2010, the actress said she had been focusing on raising her daughter Ramona, the young girl meaning everything to her, but she didn’t forget about her acting career either. She admitted though that “it’s not possible to do it perfectly”, when referring to maintaining the equilibrium between the two worlds.
The mother status has been very present in Gyllenhaal’ s family life as well as the parts she played in her recent movies. She told Us that even though being a mom is the most important and present thing to define her, she would really like to play something other than a mother in her upcoming films.
Maggie was nominated for the Academy Awards in 2010 for her part in “Crazy Heart” as Best Supporting Actress. She was grouped in the same category with Penelope Cruz for her role in “Nine”, Vera Farmiga in “Up in the Air” and Anna Kendrick for the same “Up in the Air”. The Oscar went to the fifth nominee Mo’Nique for her part in “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire”.
