Zoe Kravitz, the daughter of famous rock singer Lenny Kravitz and actress Lisa Bonet, will be starring in the new X-Men movie. The trailer is now available.
The 22-year-old has inherited the talents of both her parents. And it looks like they were both an inspiration to her. So she found herself singing and acting, which led her to developing as a multi talent artist.
Zoe’s acting career
X-Men isn’t the fist movie she appears in. She started acting in 2007 with Catherine Zeta Jones as a colleague, in the movie “No Reservations”. Then she played alongside Jodie foster in “The Brave One”. She was in high school at that time. Since then she appeared in several movies with famous actors like Bruce Willis, Pierce Brosnan, Kiefer Sutherland and Zack Galifianakis. She even played in TV series, like “Californication” where she played the role of a rock star.
Zoe’s music career
She is currenty the lead singer of the band Elevator Fight. The band has played shows at South by Southwest and the Roots Picnic. But, despite the talent and the popularity, she says she doesn’t want to follow this path. In an interview with The Independent, cited by Yahoo Movies, Zoe claims that even though her touring experience with her dad gave her unique memories, that kind of lifestyle is not for her: “I don’t want to be a famous singer, necessarily, and touring is a lot of work. It’s a lot of sitting on the bus and waking up, going to the gig, performing, moving on, and that is insane” she said.
Life With Famous Parents
In the same interview Zoe says having celebrities as parents isn’t always a joy: “Having well-known parents is kind of a double-edged sword… It’s given me wonderful opportunities, but people also like to knock you down because of it, too.” Lisa Bonet, which starred in the popular Cosby show married Grammy Award winner Lenny Kravitz in 1987, on her 20th birthday. They were both half African American, half Jewish. Then , one year later, Zoe was born. Five years later Lisa and Lenny were divorced. Zoe grew up with her mother until she was 11 and then she moved in with her father. Or, better said, moved “out”, because having a rock star dad means a lot of time on the road. It was this type of experiences that, even though insanely beautiful – she could skip school for moths – it was wearing out all of her energy.
If you want to see Zoe on the big screen, there isn’t much time to wait anymore. X-Men: First Class opens June 3rd.
