Lena Dunham decided to cancel her book tour after the sexual predator comments. The star was set to be in Belgium and Germany, promoting her book, but she decided to cancel both of her appearances.
Lena managed to cause outrage with a chapter of her memoir. In this chapter, the author actually compares herself to a sexual predator. In this part of her book, Lena explains how she repeatedly tried to kiss her younger sister, during their childhood. The book, Not That Kind of Girl, describes various aspects of the Girls star’s life.
“To my Belgian readers, so very sorry to miss the Antwerp Book Fair today but I can’t wait to come back and eat fries with you. Much love,” Lena claimed in a Twitter post. “German readers: I am deeply sorry to miss tomorrow’s event in Berlin. I am so grateful for your energy and support. Mit viele liebe,” the message added.
The comments made by Lena and which drew all the criticism are actually quite shocking. She claimed that she tried to kiss her sister Grace in various occasions. “Basically, anything a sexual predator might do to woo a small suburban girl I was trying. Maybe, I thought, she would be more willing to accept kisses if I wore the face mask my grandmother had for when she did her dialysis…,” Lena Dunham writes in her book.
“What I really wanted, beyond affection, was to feel that she needed me, that she was helpless without her big sister leading her through the world,” an extract from Not That Kind of Girl indicates. Following the release of these comments, a US blog called Lena a molester. Naturally, the star was extremely upset with these comments and answered to them in a Twitter post.
She claimed that the comments that she molested her sister are not only untrue, but they actually are “upsetting and disgusting.” “And by the way, if you were a little kid and never looked at another little kid’s vagina, well, congrats to you. Usually this is stuff I can ignore but don’t demean sufferers, don’t twist my words, back the f**k up bros,” her Twitter post added. She also said that the story she shared was the one of a 7 year old.
