Once again, actress Leah Remini decided to talk about the Church of Scientology. Leah claimed that the Scientology actually made her “lose touch with the real world.” The revelations were made during a recent interview with ABC 20/20.
Leah Remini used to be a member of the Church of Scientology herself. She was part of the Church for no less than 30 years. However, she decided to stop going back in 2013.
Now, she decided to talk about the controversial church and famous actor Tom Cruise. The star said that Cruise actually had an overwhelming influence of the Church. Leah also said that commonly the Church acted against those who decided to quite it.
“Being critical of Tom Cruise is being critical of Scientology itself – you are evil,” the star said. Leah said that leaving Scientology had not been simple at all, as this meant giving up “everything you have worked for your whole life.” “I feel that people need to understand that this has been my whole life,” she explained. Leah also said that she was actually introduced to Scientology by her mom, when she was just a child.
When it comes to the reason why she decided to move on from Scientology about two years ago, the actress said at that time that “I believe that people should be able to question things.” “No one is going to tell me how I need to think, no one is going to tell me who I can, and cannot talk to,” she added.
The actress revealed that the controversial church teaches its adepts that people who leave are bad influences or “suppressive” and should be shunned. “I decided I didn’t want to raise my daughter in the church because from what I’ve experienced and what I saw, was the church becomes your everything . . . your mother, your father, your everything. You are dependent on the church,” she explained.
The famous actress is set to release her new memoir “Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology”, so without a doubt she will be making more revelations in her book.
