Leah Remini Gave Up Scientology for the Sake of her Daughter

The subject surrounding scientology and celebrities is quite debated at the moment. The latest star to talk about this subject was Leah Remini, who actually claimed that she decided to give scientology up for the sake of her daughter, Sofia.

Leah revealed that her decision to quit actually came when she realized that spending time with her daughter was much more important than Scientology. Although she made this decision about two years ago, Leah revealed the reason standing behind it only now. Leah actually revealed that being part of the Church of Scientology was not actually a decision she made, as in fact her mom has been part of this church for her entire life.

“My mother was in Scientology my whole life. Most people don’t know that we were raised in it. I didn’t decide to get into it — I was brought into it by my mom,” the star confessed. The actress went on to say that being part of this organization actually requires more time and dedication than what people imagine at first.

“I mean it was every day, three-and-a-half hours minimum, seven days a week usually. You know, I’m working most of my time, and then the other time was spent at the church, so minimal time is really spent with your family,” the 44-year old star went on to say. Leah revealed that the moment when she realized that she had to stop actually came when she saw her daughter swimming for the first time. “A tear came down my face. And I was like, ‘What am I doing?'”

Well, Leah alleged that leaving the Church of Scientology has not been easy at all. The star claimed that she was raised with the church being part of her life, so everything changed for her when she made this decision. “I’m learning there’s a new world out here, and there shouldn’t be any kind of judgment toward somebody who has a belief system that is not yours,” she went on to say.

So, it seems that departing from scientology has been a huge change in the star’s life, but she made this effort to be able to spend more time with her family, especially with her daughter.
