Singer Kesha decided to drop the lawsuit she filed against Dr. Luke, in which she accused the famous producer of sexually assaulting her. The star claimed that the reason why she dropped the lawsuit is actually linked to her intentions to only focus on her music.
The lawsuit was initially filed about two years ago, in Los Angeles. Kesha has been quite vocal about her allegations against Dr. Luke, although he denied the claims. “Kesha has dismissed her California action without prejudice while she pursues her appeal and other legal claims in the New York courts,” the singer’s lawyer stated.
“Kesha is focused on getting back to work and has delivered 28 new songs to the record label,” he went on to add. “We have conveyed to Sony Music and the label Kesha’s strong desire to release her next album and single as soon as possible.”
In her lawsuit filed in October 2014, Kesha claimed that Dr. Luke forced her to drink with him and gave her a rape drug, although she believed it was a sober pill. Then, according to the singer, Dr. Luke sexually assaulted her. This all happened soon after the young singer tuned 18. Kesha said that when she woke up, she found herself in Dr. Luke’s bed, but she had no knowledge on how she ended up there and what happened.
Kesha also said that Dr. Luke “forced himself” on her during a fight, after forcing her to take a drug. The famous music producer denied the claims and he actually filled a counter lawsuit against Kesha. Dr. Luke even managed to obtain two victories in the battle against Kesha, in February and April. Then, the court ruled that the singer will not be released from her contract.
Kesha wanted the court to end her contract with Dr. Luke, saying that because of his behavior it was actually impossible for her to work with him. Without a doubt, Kesha wants to leave this story behind her. The star has recently announced her first tour in years and it seems that she will hold a performance right away. She is scheduled to perform on August 6, in Atlantic City.
