Kelly Ripa won’t let her 2007 onstage incident prevent her from hosting this year’s edition of the TV Land Awards. The actress is very happy that she was invited at the annual event which will be held on Sunday because she will thus, meet her favorites stars, says the Inquisitr.
Back in 2007, Kelly Ripa went through an unpleasant incident while hosting the TV Land Awards. The organizers of the event asked the actress to make an unusual entrance on stage as the “Flying Nun” given that this was one of the shows that was awarded that year. For that, Ripa had to be rigged up in a harness, but she made the mistake of looking down during her flight and she almost slipped from the harness.
Charo was one of the factors contributing to Ripa’s past incident. Kelly noticed the Spanish-American actress in the audience and became so excited that she almost slipped from her flying gear. Later on, she explained that she couldn’t refrain herself because she never thought she would be able to meet her favorite TV stars. Ripa added that she still can’t get used to being around the celebrities she grew up watching on TV because being on TV was not part of her plan.
This year’s edition of TV Land Awards could be even more surprising for the “All My Children” star because she will meet many other celebrities. “Laverne & Shirley”, “In Living Color” and “One Day at a Time” are some of this year’s honorees together with Aretha Franklin and Paul Rubens of “Pee-Wee’s Playhouse”.
Ripa told reporters that she gets the same feeling every time she is on stage. In 2007, she was very nervous thinking that Laverne and Shirley were looking at her. With a public like that, is kind of hard not to let yourself overwhelmed by emotions.
The 42-year-old actress admitted that she tends to act a little bit strange when she is in a face-to-face encounter with classic icons from television. Nevertheless, she thinks her behavior is justifiable because these celebrities mean a lot to everyone.
