Kelly Osbourne recently revealed that she is considering preventing cancer surgery, as she has the cancer gene. The star made these revelations during a new episode of The Talk.
So, Kelly claimed that she has the BRCA1 gene, which puts her at very high risks of developing breast and ovarian cancers. Kelly’s mom, Sharon Osbourne, battled cancer in the past. “My mom made all of us get tested after she found out that she had it and got her double mastectomy,” the star claimed. If Kelly will undergo the medical intervention, she will follow the footsteps of Angelina Jolie. Still, for now Kelly did not reveal when she plans on having the intervention.
So, Kelly Osbourne is not the only star who discovered that she carries a gene that increases the risk to develop breast and ovarian cancers. Angelina Jolie has also undergone such a prevent surgery, which removed her ovaries and fallopian tube. Kelly claimed now that she agrees with the decision, supporting Angelina.
“I agree with this 100 percent. I know that one day I will eventually have to do it too because if I have children, I want to be there to bring them up. I want to be there to support them in every way I can,” Kelly said. “It’s something I applaud Angelina for because she’s bringing attention to this, and people are now going to go out and get tested for it,” she added.
When talking about her mom, Kelly said that she is extremely lucky to have her. “I’m so lucky to have the mother that I have, the brave mother I have that has taught me so much,” she claimed.
Kelly Osbourne’s mom, Sharon, fought colon cancer back in 2002. The star managed to beat this cruel disease, but she found out years later that she was carrying the breast cancer gene. Sharon decided to undergo a medical intervention and had a double mastectomy. “As soon as I found out I had the breast cancer gene, I thought, ‘The odds are not in my favor.’ I decided to just take everything off,” the star said at that time.
