If for some celebrities today, being fashionable means staying current with the trends, Kelly Clarkson knows exactly what her style is. From her point of view, fashion is just like music, “formulaic”. Many performers today seem to take their fashion advice from Lady Gaga. Now, don’t get us wrong.
Lady Gaga is quite the fashionistas, but her alien-inspired costumes on stages and skyscraper stilettos aren’t exactly something that any performer could take on successfully. Kelly Clarkson had a chat with reporters during the press conference for an upcoming singing competition on ABC.
She told them that the reason why artists are taking on complicate attire on stage is the music industry’s plea for conformity. From her point of view, “not only can the music be formulaic, but the attire can be formulaic”. “Just like music, with style there is room for everything and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea but it is that person’s thing” said the original American Idol.
Basically, when it comes to fashion for Kelly Clarkson comfort takes the lead ahead of everything else, including tight clothes and shoes you can barely walk in. “I think you should be comfortable” said Clarkson adding a few advices for the contestants at a new singing competition “Duets”.
Speaking about Jordan Meredith, Clarkson said she needs her “to be comfortable on stage and people are pushing her to wear something else and that is not out focus.
Especially in a competition you need to be comfortable and confident”. When it comes to people telling her what to wear on stage Kelly Clarkson is pretty sure about two things: not wearing alien costumes and stiletto. “This is such a funny industry.
Sometimes I turn on awards shows and pop stars are wearing alien costumes” said the singer. “I’m like, ‘That’s cool for you but ain’t no way in hell someone is going to convince me to wear that on stage”. Stilettos have been taking the music industry by storm.
With Lady Gaga promoting them in weird outfits, other celebrities took on the trend. Clarkson is sure that’s not going to happen. “I don’t want to wear no stiletto. I am not a model and I am not Beyonce. It is not going to happen” , concluded the artist.
