As you may very well know, Katy Perry and her husband, Russell Brand filed for divorce after a heated discussion around the Christmas period. Up until now, the media was not able to find out the true reason of their breakup, but Katy Perry has finally agreed to speak out after split, says Us Weekly.
The pop singer used her Twitter account to thank fans for their “love and support” on Sunday. She also wrote that fans from all over the world and their kind messages helped her get over the sad period. “You guys have made my heart happy again,” the 27-year-old singer further wrote.
The two were only married for 14 months, but that didn’t stop Russell to put an end to the relationship. On December 30 he filed for divorce citing “irreconcilable differences”. None of the two has made any declarations in relation to the discussion that led to their separation.
Brand agreed to say a few words to Us reporters. In a previous interview, he announced with sadness that Katy and he decided to end their marriage. Despite this, the “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” star believes they will still remain friends. He also stated that he will always adore his former wife.
The decision seems to be settled as several moving vans were spotted on Wednesday outside the couple’s $6.5 million L.A. home. According to anonymous sources, the pop singer was blindsided by Brand’s decision to file a divorce. Even so, Perry didn’t seem devastated by the news; on the contrary, she continued by saying that there were many times when he wasn’t even home, so we take it that she won’t miss his presence.
The couple got married on October 23, 2010 near a sanctuary in Rajasthan, India. This was the same location where Russell proposed to Katy in 2009. After a few months from their wedding ceremony, more precisely in July 2011, the press found out that the relationship was on the rocks because the two barely managed to spend some time together. Back then, the couple denied the rumors, but, in the end, they turned out to be true.
